Help Exposed IP address and VPN

Firmware version: 4.4.1.1146
Model name: QNAP TS-231P2

When I set VPN as default gateway rTorrent shows my VPN ip in the status bar and torrent detection from IP/DNS Detect shows this ip also. When default gateway is my network interface without VPN and rTorrent is set to use VPN address in “Bind IP interface” situation is different. Status bar is showing my public ip but IP/DNS Detect shows address from VPN. Theoretically it looks safe but it bothers me that in one place there is my public ip. I prefer second configuration but is it safe?

You have to wait for an answer a few days since I don't remember latest build of rtorrent for arm. But if there is an option in the settings to select correct interface then it should work correctly.

Please consider switching from ARM to Intel based NAS.
