Hello,
Time to introduce a new QPKG - So here it is AirVideo aka the processor punisher ... lol.
[Description]
Air Video can stream videos in almost any format to your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You don't need to copy your videos to the device just to watch them. If the videos in your collection are not in format supported by iPhone or iPad, Air Video will convert them on fly. You don't need to wait until the entire video is converted. You can start watching it almost immediately!
Live Conversion requires iPhone or iPod touch with firmware 3.0 and a sufficiently powerful computer (Intel Core 2 duo or equivalent processor is recommended).
[Hardware Requirements]
As per the AVS site for live conversion a powerful processor is needed, so probably only the x86 dual core NAS models will be able to do the live conversion.
[Installation instructions]
Install and enable the JRE qpkg from here
[Optional] Install the Avahi QPKG, version b4 or higher, for bonjour broadcast support from here.
Install the AirVideoServer qpkg. DO NOT ENABLE IT YET.
Make sure you have the web server activated and navigate to http://NASIP_ADDRESS/avs and login using the NAS admin credentials and change the movies and/or series folder location.
Go back to the NAS web interface and enable the AirVideoServer QPKG.
Download the AirVideo app for Iphone or Ipad from the AppStore.
If Avahi QPKG installed and enabled the AirvideoServer will appear as available on the network;
If Avahi QPKG has not been installed, tap on the + and specify the NAS address manually will appear, tap it and enter your NAS IP address. The port number is 45631.
[Release Information]
Ver. Alpha5-r1 - Initial release - 08.05.2011
The problem with the web interface not being able to show the correct server status was solved.
Ver. Alpha5-r2 - 09.05.2011
Small bugs fixed. Possibly the problem with the different file encoding other then english. Thanks to spoon.uk.
Ver. Alpha5-r3 - 10.05.2011
Hopefully the problem with the AirVideo server stopping issue and the web interface server status has been fixed.
It really bites not being able to test this before releasing it. Last time when I do a package that works on only one platform.
I removed the download link for the R3 release... It only worked correctly in my mind ...
Ver. Alpha5-r4 - 14.05.2011
Fixed the problem with the server stopping issue and the incorrect server status shown in the web interface. Big thanks to FrancWest and Moogle Stiltzkin for testing this. The only problems that still remain is the server cache that gets wiped when the NAS is restarted and the file encoding, as reported if your NAS uses a non english file encoding the name of the movie files will not be shown correctly. WIll need to wait for a new release, that will attend to these issues.
Ver. Alpha6-r6 - 17.08.2011
Updated to the latest AirVideoServer version.
Fixed a few bugs.
Added support for avahi, if available.
Added colors to the startup/stop script .
Ver. Alpha6-r7 - 07.09.2011
Compiled a new version of ffmpeg with support for more supports including aac.
Also, made the QPKG compatible with the latest version of the Avahi QPKG.
Ver. Alpha6-r8 - 22.01.2012
Install this version only if you updated the Avahi QPKG to version b5 or above.
[Downloads Section]
Version Alpha6-r7
Intel-x86 - Dropbox or Multiupload
Version Alpha6-r8
Intel-x86 - Dropbox
[Known Issues]
Problems with russian file encoding as reported here. Probably other then english file encoding will have the same problem.
When the NAS is restarted, the video cache gets deleted so every time the NAS is restarted the movie snapshots will be lost. I am working on a way to correct this.
There is a limitation to the web interface because you can only setup 2 folders where your movies and series can be found. I'll probably change this in a future release.
Cristian.
