Inżynierowie Microsoftu symbolicznie odcinają się od przeszłości, a co najważniejsze, gonią najnowsze standardy webowe. W rezultacie IE11 będzie nie tylko najlepszym IE w historii, ale po prostu nowoczesną i szybką przeglądarką www.
Internet Explorer 11 to jedna z nowości aktualizacji Windows 8.1, o której pisałem szerzej jakiś czas temu. Przeglądarka Microsoftu w tej wersji doczekała się naprawdę dużych zmian. Zaimplementowano w niej obsługę WebGL, funkcje prerenderowania oraz usprawniono współpracę z najnowszych technologiami webowymi. Już w wersji 10 Microsoft pokazał, że potrafi zrobić dziś dobrą przeglądarkę na miarę XXI wieku. Wersja 11 ma być tego niepodważalnym dowodem. Sęk w tym, że to już nie IE, co słusznie zauważył serwisNCZOnline.
Sekret tkwi w funkcji User Agent, czyli identyfikatorze przeglądarki, którym przedstawia ona się na stronach www. W ten sposób możliwe jest m.in. dostosowanie wyglądu witryny do możliwości danego programu czy chociażby uniknięcie wpadek związanych z brakiem kompatybilności. W ostatnich latach Internet Explorer był jednym z negatywnych bohaterów wśród osób pracujących nad stronach www. Wystarczy zajrzeć w pierwszy lepszy kaskadowy arkusz stylu, by zobaczyć selektory przygotowywane specjalnie z myślą o przeglądarce Microsoftu nie radzącej sobie ze standardowymi rozwiązaniami. Podobnie sytuacja wygląda z punktu widzenia programistów JavaScript.
