I managed to get the 2.5 version to work and thought why not tun it into a QPKG
.
Install instructions
1. Download the QPKG.
2. Enable the MySQL service on the NAS and create a database and user specially for the eyeOS QPKG.
3. Install the QPKG.
4. In your favorite browser navigate to http://NAS_IP_ADDRESS:83/eyeos/install and follow the instructions.
*Note: All the optional dependencies are safe to be ignored.
5. If the install process went okay and you managed to login, connect to the NAS via SSH and run the following command so you can delete the install folder:
6. In order to allow access to the eyeOS users to the system NAS shares, please connect via SSH, run the below command and follow the instructions there:
*Note: After running the command above the permissions of the files contained into the specified share will be changed to 777.
7. Enjoy your new eyeOS install

Other thoughts
The QPKG bundles in the latest php version available ( 5.3.8 ) and uses as a web server - lighttpd. A php accelerator named xcache is also included in order to help speed things up a bit.
The QPKG also creates a new user and group named eyeos, please do not delete these 2 because the QPKG will stop working.
Successes, issues ... please post them below.
