First of all you cannot compare mechanism used by Download Station - it is written by a 14 yr ol kid.
It simply list all interfaces even containers which is stupid.

This is how Rtorrent works.

1. In the Rtorrent settings make sure you've Enabled Debug logs:

So hit the Enable debug first.

2. Please connect to your NAS using ssh

3. Execute command:
Bash:
/etc/init.d/rtorrent.sh get_iface_ipaddr

Here is my output:

OpenVPN is recognized as tun0 interface. You can check this withing ifconfig it will list all available network interface.
Once Rtorrent founds interfaces and they are not loopback and have assigned IP addresses it is using one second ping method on each of it.
If failes, then it will not list it
Any another VPN server will be knowns tun1, tun2, tun3, ... and so on.

Above method is exactly the same:

except this you got verbose output.

So finally if your openvpn or any other VPN tunel is unable to reach google's 8.8.8.8, rtorrent will do not list it.

If you still have issues please make sure first your openvpn works well.

Hi

Im not realy sure this issue could be reated to Rtorrent itself. But ofcourse it could be.
Would be better if we could arrange some teamviewer appointment lets say saturday of friday. What is your GMT ?
It is very interesring why rtorrent is not probing other interfaces.

The other interfaces could be added manually rtorrent.sh script however the idea is to probe any interfaces with assigned IP.
So its better to lookup this.
However if you are not able to perform teamviewer action with me, you can always run own OpenVPN server and share it with me.

Please let me know which way is better for you.

Thanks
