Hello,

First of all. This is such a great website so thank you to the team.

I have a RP-1679u-RP Version 1 (Sandy Bridge)

I have upgraded the CPU to a i7 2600S now and I can see all 8 cores in the Resource Manager.

However, I went into the BIOS and the MAX CPU speed is 2.70GHz. The i7 2600s supports Max Turbo Frequency
3.80 GHz. Does anyone know how I can update the BIOS or is there a way to solve this issue?

I have looked in the BIOS, there is not setting for speed stepping / over clock etc

Here is a picture of my BIOS

Thank you

really ? read what's the diffrence between - normal work and boosted one ...
Hello,

Yes of course. However in the BIOS it shows as the MAX speed as 2.70Ghz. There is specified in the QNAP Resource monitor and also a VM with pass through on the CPU.

So I assume the limitation is the BIOS. I am not an expert at this stuff.

Thank you

Now follow these instructions to check if TURBO has been Enabled:
Bash:
cd /share/Public
mkdir i7z
cd i7z/
wget --no-check-certificate https://github.com/ajaiantilal/i7z/archive/master.zip
unzip master.zip
cd i7z-master/
./i7z_64bit --socket0 0
#./i7z_32bit --socket0 0

the 2700K in RP-1679u-RP looks real, if it works in TS-879 [x79 family] ... it should in 1679

Thank you very much. Yes, I read this but I was worried about the TDP... hmmm. How very interesting to say the least. No I need to buy a 2700K i7. LOL,

No I need to buy a 2700K i7.
i think have my old i5 2700K somewhere lying around ... :p

DO you have an i7 2700k??? Please

Also... Just a question please.

The TDP could be for the HEAT.. Not the voltage.

As I cannot have the boost on the 2700K. Thus it will be running at 3.50 GHz. A less TDP than 3.90GHz. Could this be the case.

Also. I intend to add an after market heat sink and fan.

YOU ARE LEGENDARY!!!! READING IT ALL NOW!!!!!!!!
I know this is cheeky, does any have a i7 2700k. I can Part ex (some cash) with me i7 2600s.
