Hi

Is it possible to limit the use of hdd by rtorrent?
These are only 2 torrents and the disks are already reaching their limits.
In the background there is currently nothing working, so if i start backups it is only worse.

Nope. You should recheck what kind of read/write speed you can reach on your disk.

Maximum linear speeds are less important here because in torrents it is never read linearly only randomly.
Therefore, the IO parameter and its use are more important than the linear reading.
But here it is rather a huge overhead that rtorrent has during work. In the example above, rtorrent reads ~ 7MB / s, writes ~ 3MB / s while hdd is ~ 86MB / s.
Maybe increasing the amount of 'some' cache would improve the case, I have 16GB in the NAS, I can allocate more.

SiewcaRyżu this issue is not present in QNAP's rtorrent release. We are reading data differently. plonking you probably have some HDD issue. Or CPU is not efficient. We have confirmed read/write speed about 350Mb/s
