Hi,

I just install rtorrent and download works peferctly (better than download station) but i think I got a problem because I have red "!" in the bottom bar saying that port is closed.

I tried UpnP
I tried Manual port forwarding
I set TCP 42001 and UDP 6881 to NAS

But I got the same problem rtorrent see the port closed...

For info I'm using a VPN if there is a link.

I got no upload for now but can't be sure it's no luck or because of the port problem.

Ok...
I just discovered that answer is no. (NordVPN btw)
But i didn't have problem with download station...

How do rtorrent check if port are open or closed ?

Ok I set back Upnp and all seems to be ok on my router (see pic joined)
But rtorrent say my port is closed...

Because you are behind VPN.
Do you offer port forwarding? | NordVPN Support

since your VPN provider does not provide port forwarding, all is fine.
change provider to one that allows such.

if you open ports on your router (as UPNP does) and tell rtorrent to use direct internet connection - you are not covered by VPN , thus "vulnerable".

On download station I never have such problem. I was behind my vpn and peers could connect and upload.
I don't understand why it not could be the same with another torrent client ? (Ok i'm far from a torrent specialist )

You can tell to download station to use interface of your choice in app center as you do it in rtorrent settings
Finally I switch to AirVPN and inside connection income.
But indicator in bottom of ui stay yellow
